An experienced snorkeller who has passed the Snorkel Dive Leader Examination is competent to lead snorkellers of any grade on open water snorkels and is capable of organising snorkel groups. Snorkel Dive Leaders will be involved in leading Trainee Snorkellers. PREREQUISITES 1. Be an active Senior Snorkel Diver. 2. Hold a Rescue Snorkeller Certificate. 3. Have written consent of parent/guardian to undertake snorkel diving (if under18 years of age). 4. Sign medical disclaimer (signed by parent/guardian if under 18). 5. Have club D.O/S.O?s written recommendation. Snorkel Diver Leader to complete following before presenting for test:- Open Water Training Complete and log 15 open water snorkels in Irish waters (not less than 30 minutes duration). Organisational Training Plan and lead 5 Open Water Snorkel Training groups to the satisfaction of an Instructor. This is to include giving briefs and debriefs. SNORKEL DIVE LEADER TEST Oral tests Oral examination in (a) snorkel dive planning, (b) sea conditions, (c) safety, (d) general snorkelling knowledge, (e) Senior Snorkel Diver lecture series. Open Water Test 1. Fin 1,000m in open water. 2. Complete 3 snorkel dives to 10m within 10 minutes. 3. Tow an inert body 100m, land and demonstrate E.A.R./C.P.R. 4. Lead snorkellers on a snorkel dive of duration 10-15 minutes. Include brief and debrief. Examiner to be at least Snorkel Examiner. On successful completion of test a C.M.A.S. certificate will be awarded. Snorkel Dive Leader
