A holder of a Diver Medic Certificate is awarded to those who have completed a course and passed an exam in the skills required to provide first aid treatment to an injured diver. INTRODUCTION The course is designed to educate C.F.T. members to recognise dive related injuries and to provide emergency first aid to injured divers. PREREQUISITES - CANDIDATES 1. Be at least 16 years of age (if under 18 years have written consent of Parent/Guardian). 2. Have a current C.F.T. membership card. PREREQUISITES - INSTRUCTORS Instructors need to hold Diver Medic Instructor certificate. COURSE OUTLINE The course comprises of a series of lectures and practical work. It is designed to be completed in one day. At the end of the course there will be a short written test. Each student is required to demonstrate proficiency in the practical techniques. This will be assessed throughout the practical sessions. Lecture Schedule 1. Course Introduction 2. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation 3. Oxygen Theory 4. Oxygen Equipment 5. First Aid Awareness Practical Schedule 1. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation 2. Oxygen Equipment The following numbers must be adhered to - Maximum student to Instructor ratio is 12:1. Maximum student to mannequin ratio is 6:1. Maximum student to oxygen unit ratio is 6:1. Overall maximum number of students per course is 18.
